This Colt New Army Model of 1901 or M1901 was sold to the United States Government and shipped to the Commanding Officer of the San Antonio Arsenal in San Antonio Texas on April 26th, 1901 in a 350 gun shipment.   Special features note that it was furnished with a lanyard swivel.

The left side of the frame is stamped “RAC”. “RAC” stands for Rinaldo A. Carr a civilian inspector at the time.  The butt is marked U.S. Army Model 1901 and No 155650 as the serial number.

The M1901 was an evolution of the M1892 revolver.  The M1892 would go through several revisions producing what we know as the M1901.
