This M1911A1 was manufactured by the Singer Manufacturing Company during WWII.  It was under the Ordnance Educational Order No. W-ORD-396, the Singer Manufacturing Company only produced "500" pistols total, with almost all of them issued to the U.S. Army Air Corps.

This Singer pistol retains it original high gloss du-lite blued finish, with the left side of the slide roll marked with the two-line address of: "S. MFG.CO. / ELIZABETH, N.J., U.S.A.", with no markings on the right sides. The top of the slide is stamped with a "P" proofmark that is oriented toward the left side of the slide with the left side of the frame having the same corresponding "P" proof above the magazine release button. The slide is correctly not numbered to the pistol frame.

The right side of the frame is stamped: "UNITED STATES PROPERTY / No S800215" in two lines, with "M 1911 A1 U.S.ARMY" towards the front of the frame.

The left side of the frame is stamped with the initials of Col. John K. Clement, (JKC), the Executive officer of the New York Ordnance District.

The pistol has the correct wide spur hammer with borderless checkering, checkered thumb safety, slide stop, trigger and main spring housing.

It is fitted with a correct set of early WWII Singer manufactured, brown plastic, checkered grips with the hollow backs, and no mold marks or reinforcing ribs on the inside. They have the full checkering with no reinforcing rings around the screw holes.
