This Colt M1917 Revolver was shipped on September 19th, 1918 to the Camp Ordnance Officer at Camp Funston, Kansas.  It has a corse brushed blue finish with wood grips.  Special features on the factory letter indicate that it was finished with a lanyard swivel.  The number on the butt of the pistol is 105148.

Camp Funston's main purpose was to train soldiers drafted in Midwestern states to fight overseas.  It was estimated that 4,000 buildings were constructed and could accommodate roughly 40,000 soldiers at any given time.

The revolver was built to utilize the 45ACP cartridge which is a rimless cartridge.  Half moon or full moon clips are needed to load this revolver with the 45ACP cartridge.
