This Colt 1903 Hammerless was shipped on January 11th, 1942 in a 100 gun shipment to the Commanding General at Springfield Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts.
This particular colt is marked WB on the left side trigger guard. The inspector stamp of W.B. is for Colonel Waldemar S. Broberg. He was the Army Inspector of Ordnance from July 1st, 1941 to June 16th, 1942 in the Hartford/Springfield Ordnance District.
There are British proofs on the frame, slide and barrel indicating it was one of the pistols shipped to England under the Lend Lease Act.
