This Colt Official Police was shipped to the British Purchasing Commission in New York, New York on June 24th, 1941 in a 1,100 gun shipment. Special features state: The number "5220" is engraved on the butt of the revolver.
The left side of the frame shows shows the British Purchasing Commission Mark. It is a Crown with a W on the inside or also more commonly known as the "Crown-W" marking. These marks have been observed on pistols from December of 1940 through June of 1942 and was applied at the British Purchasing Commission's office in New York before they were exported to England.
