Colt Pocket Experimental Prototype 22LR SN:GX-3181

  • Caliber: 22LR
  • Era: Post-War
  • Finish: Blue
  • Serial Number: GX-3181

This Colt Experimental Prototype Pocket Model GX-3181 was a post-war prototype and the final progression step of the 1908 Vest Pocket.  Ultimately this design starts to take shape in what we see eventually with the Colt Junior.

This prototype features a 2 1/2" barrel that's in-the-white.  The letter states the finish is blue with an anodized aluminum alloy frame.  The grips are a smooth black composition panel.

There are no roll marks on the pistol or magazine.  Only the prototype serial number stamped on the right side of the frame.  The magazine is unique to accommodate the 22LR cartridge.

The letter indicates in the special remarks that the Subject pistol was an experimental prototype sample and display pistol kept by the Colt factor of a fresh new and different design to previous models.
