This Colt Gold Cup National Match .38 Special Mid-Range was shipped to Gil Herbard Guns, 125-129 Public Square in Knoxville, Illinois on May 4th, 1970 in a 28 gun shipment.  The finish is listed as Royal Blue, 5" barrel and chambered in .38 Special Mid-Range.

The barrel is marked on this pistol "COLT .38 SPEC. N.M. / ** MK. III **" visible through the ejection port.  It is accompanied by it's original factory 2 piece box with outer sleeve, factory text target and instruction booklet.

The Colt .38 Special Mid-Range Gold Cup National Match pistol was built as a highly accurate target pistol.  While on the outside it looks like a traditional National Match internally there are some modifications to utilize the flat nosed wadcutter ammunition that makes these pistols very unique.
