This Colt New Service Civilian Model 1917 was shipped to the Shapleigh Hardware Company in St. Louis, Missouri on July 28th, 1932 in a 500 gun shipment. The factory letter notes a special notation of "War time finish". This revolver has the factory walnut checkered grips.
There were approximately 1,000 of these revolvers for sale in 1932. They were chambered in 45ACP with 5 1/2" Barrels. The left side of the barrel reads "COLT MODEL 1917 .45 AUTO CTGE.". The top of the two line patent dates. These guns were built from left over parts of the M1917 revolver run.
