This Colt Police Positive was shipped August 12th, 1924 in a 10 gun shipment to Standart Brothers Hardware Company in Detroit Michigan.
This Police Positive is unique as on the right side of the frame it is marked with "Ford #26". This inscription was not done at the factory but would have been done after it arrived at the local dealer. The gun store these 10 pistols shipped to were a few miles away from the Highland Park Ford Plant. This pistol would be utilized by a security guard at the Ford plants.
The highland Park Ford Plant opened in 1910. It included offices, factories and a power plant and foundry. It was 102 acres and was the largest manufacturing facility in the world at the time it opened. On October 7th, 1913 the Highland Park Ford Plant became the first automotive production facility in the world to implement the moving assembly line.
