This Colt Service Model Ace was built in 1940 and features Colt's Fine brushed blue finish with 28 row checkered walnut grips.

It was shipped to the Commanding Officer at Springfield Armory of Springfield, Massachusetts on December 17th, 1940.  It was on Colt Factory order #9609 and part of a 100 gun shipment.

The inspector stamp of C.S.R. is for Charles S. Reed.  From August 2nd, 1938 to December 31st, 1940 he was in charge of the production and acceptance of ordnance in the Springfield Ordnance District.  He was the officer in charge of the Outside Inspection (A.I.O.).
